curtain-callCurtain Call- A History of the South Canterbury Drama League.”

The South Canterbury Drama League has entertained the community to a feast of drama since they first sponsored, in 1927, the First Amateur Dramatic Competition described by the Timaru Herald as "a new departure in the way of entertainment .. something novel for the district ..amusing and educational as well". This marked the real beginning of the League.

Two volumes of this history are available. Vol. 1 from 1927 and Vol. 2 from 1978 in which shows, personnel and anecdotes are delightfully recorded.

Copies are available from Anne Ellis SCDL P.O. Box 397 Timaru.
